Sydney Institute 3rd Annual Library Training Day
On Tuesday 4 December library staff from Sydney Institute Colleges attended a full day of knowledge sharing and new technologies being used in libraries.
Many discussions were held about the use of the new library system Unicorn which was implemented in July 2007. Guest speakers and visitors from TAFE Library Systems and TAFE Library Collection Services gave colleagues the opportunity to ask the important questions about Unicorn and its updates. Planned for early 2008 will be the Acquisitions module.
The various libraries presented a wonderful showcase of technologies they use to help students and staff make the most of the libraries and its resources. The displays included virtual library tours using podcasts and digital stories, library wikis and blogs, along with the popular Del.icio.us and the new Captivate software. All staff enjoyed themselves and got something out of the day.
